YOUR PENANG STAY
Staying at Straits Quay: food, groceries and marina life

Straits Quay gives a Penang stay a waterfront setting, with room to spend part of the day close to your apartment. For guests choosing our two-bedroom homestay, the appeal is straightforward: your group can stay together, prepare a meal at home and return to a private terrace facing the marina.
Before choosing this base, think about the trip you want. If most days involve exploring the heritage centre on foot from your front door, compare accommodation there too. If you want an apartment at the marina and are comfortable planning transport for outings, Straits Quay is worth considering.
Get your bearings first
Our apartment is at Straits Quay in Tanjung Tokong, Penang. The immediate setting is a marina and retail complex. Some accommodation addresses use George Town broadly; that does not mean every property is beside the heritage centre's sights.
Keep two locations in your trip notes: your accommodation's agreed arrival point, and the destination of each outing. Use the actual destination in your map or transport app instead of assuming “George Town” identifies one small area. Your host will provide the private arrival details when your stay is confirmed.
The apartment's terrace is private to staying guests. It should not be confused with the publicly accessible waterfront area, and marina frontage is not a promise of access to a swimming beach.
Straits Quay restaurants: where to start with your group
For fish and chips, look at Blue Reef; for a seafood meal, consider SeaQueen; for tea and a lighter pause in the day, check Winter Warmers. All three appear in the marina’s own shop listings checked on 19 October 2026. This is a short planning list, not a ranking based on meals we have personally tried.
Blue Reef Fish & Chips
Blue Reef’s listing identifies its location as lot 3A-G-20 and describes fish and chips alongside a wider menu. It is a straightforward starting point when your group wants that style of meal. Look at the current menu before committing, especially if some guests do not eat fish. Blue Reef’s official marina listing.
SeaQueen Restaurant
SeaQueen’s listing places it at lot 3C-G-3 and describes a seafood-focused restaurant that also hosts events. For a shared group dinner, ask about available tables, portion sizes and how the seafood you choose is priced. Confirm service for your intended time rather than assuming an event venue always has walk-in tables. SeaQueen’s official marina listing.
Winter Warmers Coffee and Tea House
Winter Warmers is listed at lot 3A-G-17, with a range of teas and meal options. It gives you another place to investigate for an afternoon break when everyone wants to sit down between outings. Check the current food menu if you need a full meal rather than tea. Winter Warmers’ official marina listing.
Before reserving a table for six
- Give the restaurant your party size and ask whether you can sit together.
- Confirm dietary requirements and allergy handling directly. A menu or venue name does not establish halal certification or allergy suitability.
- Ask about the total price of any set menu, seafood charged by weight, and applicable service charges.
- Check current opening hours, last orders and whether a reservation is needed for your date.
For arrival day, leave room for a simple meal rather than a tightly timed reservation. Your flight, check-in and the group’s energy may change the plan. For a later night, arrange food before relying on a restaurant or shop still being open.
Our apartment’s kitchen offers another option for meals together. Staying here does not include restaurant reservations or meals; dining arrangements are made separately with each venue.
Groceries and meals in the apartment

Sam's Groceria lists its address at Straits Quay Mall in Tanjong Tokong on its own contact page. It is a useful place to check when planning groceries for a self-catering stay. Confirm current opening arrangements and any specific items you need with the store. Sam's Groceria location information
A short first-shop list can be enough: breakfast ingredients, drinks and snacks for your outings. Buy for the meals you actually expect to eat in, especially on a short stay. If your arrival is late, settle that evening's food plan before relying on a shop being open.
Our apartment has a kitchen and laundry facilities. That gives your group the option of meals at home and washing during the stay, while keeping your daily plans flexible. Ask about any particular equipment you need rather than assuming it is supplied.
Getting beyond the marina
Flying into Penang? Our airport arrival guide covers transport choices, luggage and check-in planning.
Penang's tourism authority describes public buses, taxis and e-hailing among the ways to travel around the island. Its guide points travellers to the operator for current bus routes and schedules. Penang Global Tourism's transport guide
For a point-to-point journey, check your transport app or taxi arrangements for the actual pickup, destination and fare. Allow flexibility for traffic. If six guests are travelling together, confirm passenger and luggage capacity before ordering; the apartment's capacity does not determine the capacity of a vehicle.
For buses, check the current route, boarding stop and any walking section at both ends. Plan any transfers and the final walk to your accommodation before setting off. Travellers carrying several suitcases may prefer to compare a direct transfer with the practicalities of public transport.
A simple first afternoon
After your agreed check-in, unpack and decide whether your group wants to eat out or pick up groceries. Explore the immediate waterfront at your own pace, then leave the more ambitious island outing for a day with enough time for transport and breaks.
If it rains, you can settle into the apartment with included Netflix and high-speed fibre Wi-Fi instead of forcing an outdoor plan.

The apartment accommodates up to six guests across two bedrooms and has three bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed and a sofa bed; the second has a queen bed and a single bed. Tell us your group's needs so we can confirm the sleeping arrangement.
The marina-facing terrace is private to your stay. The pool and gym are shared building facilities. Check-in is from 3 PM to 9 PM; discuss a later arrival before booking.
View the apartment and enquire about your dates. We will check availability and provide the complete quote and terms. An enquiry does not reserve the apartment.
